| Why
be an
ordinary sports fan when you can get your team spirit noticed in the
stands?
From showing your school colors to showing off for publicity stunts and special events, nothing grabs attention like body painting!

Here's what happens when a guy gets inspired to show his support for his cousin, a silver-medaling Junior Olympian and leading player on the women's water polo team at Princeton University. When the Lady Tigers took on the University of Maryland Terrapins in the final chase for the Eastern Division Championships in the spring of 2007, Matt and his father conspired to show their support in a bold way... |
| Matt's dad, Tim, in
search of a
"body painter" in Princeton NJ had to slog through myriad online
references to automotive cosmetics but finally discovered Second
Look does just the sort of body painting he was after and quickly
booked a session. Family and
friends
from all over the country flew in for this key game, and no one but
Matt and his parents were "in" on this stunt. Tim made a special
request for Erin to come up with a design to go on Matt's back that
would echo the chant of the Princeton Tiger fans to "Crush the
Terrapins." The design also foreshadowed the Tiger's win! |
| This plan was pulled
off on what
happened to be the very same day as Princeton's "Communiversity," a
town-consuming annual street festival centered on Palmer Square
opposite the gates of the university that drew about 35,000 people this
day. And why
park near Palmer Stadium across from the pool when there's a parking
garage on the far side of Princeton borough?
Why not walk through the middle of the town square, past thousands of
Princeton students and residents and visitors and try to
attract a bit of media attention? Turns out, a guy painted
orange from head to toe is a magnet for newspaper photographers... |

| Well, Matt is
actually from Yardley, PA, and he was supporting the Princeton Lady
Tigers
but... close enough! Below, a tight shot taken just before the white
highlights were added to the body stripes. |
| Tim also arranged for
Princeton sports fans attending the game to get painted! Paw prints
were a popular choice for cheeks, some on a small field of orange.
Below,
one of the team's supporters outside the stadium
that day
who also opted to show his stripes in the stands. Cheek stripes were
worn by plenty of fans but this man, in from Florida, specifically
requested the additional matching "soul patch." |
| Special designs can be customized for any team! |

| Fifth Avenue in
Manhattan is often filled with colorful people, but seldom does anyone
find body painted models on the steps of the New York Public Library.
Nor do folks often find a conga line of painted bodies tying up New
York's midtown traffic. Details on this attention-grabbing publicity
stunt for Cuervo Tequila and Erin's work on the body painting team at
the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square are found here on the Stage &
Media page. |

| Sometimes a character
in a theatrical play calls for body painting, and when you're talking
about a show called "Green Man," there's basically no way around
it! Playing a contemporary expression of a mystical character that
represents rebirth in medieval Celtic mythology, actor Spiff Wiegand
is shown above at the make-up test, surrounded by his character's leafy
green kin outside the stage door of Premiere Stages in Union, NJ.
Details
on this production are found on the Stage & Media page, linked
